William McCulloch

Engineering Director
Billy is a founder member of McCulloch Rail which came about as a direct result of observation of working practises within the Rail industry that he thought could be improved upon. The resulting development of the various machinery being deployed by the company is primarily from this background which continues to this day. Holding the role of Engineering Director Billy is responsible for this side of the business but can often be seen on the front line of the Production teams where new ideas emerge to continue the development of innovative ideas to allow the Company to grow. Billy is always available to discuss methodologies with potential Clients and to explain where McCulloch Rail’s equipment can offer the best advantages over conventional practises.

Daniel McCulloch

Operations Director
Alongside twin brother Billy, Danny is a founder member of McCulloch Rail, which the brothers formed in 1992. Danny has had a variety of work experience in different areas until the brothers decided to start their own company in rail. Danny is the Operations Director and has grown his experience in the 20 years that the company has been operating in rail. He is overall responsible for all operations within McCulloch Rail to ensure all jobs are carried out to the highest standard, with safety being top priority, delivered on time and within budget.

George Colin Neil

Business Director
As a Chartered Civil Engineer, Colin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the business where his past experience has included various Senior positions across the diversity of Civil Engineering including Area Manager Kvaerner Construction, Managing Director of First Engineering Track Renewals , Regional Director Grant Rail and Civils Construction Director for Tie Ltd. Having spent the last 20 years in the Heavy and Light railway environment Colin fully understands the need for new and innovative ideas and methodologies to be adopted and therefore encourages close engagement with potential Clients to fully understand the issues at hand in order to facilitate a constructive approach to problem solving as circumstances dictate.

Anne McCulloch

Office Manager
Anne has been with McCulloch Rail from the formation of the company, she is involved in the Financial and Commercial side of the business. She is part of the planning team within the business and deals with customers on a daily basis. Her past experience was as a Scottish Law Accountant in a busy legal practice.

Ruth Robertson

Compliance Manager
Ruth joined McCulloch Rail in 2003 and in that time she has been responsible for the development, implementation and management of McCulloch Rail’s IMS, which is certificated to ISO9001:2015.

Jon Davies

Project Manager
Jon joined McCulloch Rail in April, 2013 as a member of the management team. Jon brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in both conventional and high output, plain line and S&C renewals. Jon has worked for Network Rail’s biggest contractors with nearly ten years’ service for First Engineering / Babcock Rail and more recently Amey Colas, and fully understands the need for innovative cost effective ways of renewing and upgrading today’s rail infrastructure in a safe productive manner.

Martin Balshaw

Operations Manager
Martin's career in the rail sector began in 2010 in a civils capacity working on station renewals. Then in 2011 he joined a well-established recruitment firm providing PTS workers nationwide to major principle contractors working on specialist civils and p-way projects to ensure completion of work. It was whilst working in this industry that Martin was introduced to McCulloch Rail. He became one of our suppliers and a relationship was formed. Martin joined the team as Operations Manager in 2016. Martin is operationally responsible for our rail staff, overseeing training and up skilling. Martin is also responsible for recruitment of staff for Toddington and Doncaster depots.

Andrew Parker

Training and Assessment Manager
Andy joined McCulloch Rail in 2004 as a trackman and moved through various roles to become the Depot Manager at our newest site in Toddington. Andy has now taken on the role as Trainer and Assessment Manager looking after the training needs of the company.
